(With thanks and apologies to Cheech and Chong.)

“Now class, Sr. Rosetta Stone has told me that your assignment for the past two weeks has been to write an essay entitled ‘What I Did on My Christmas Vacation.’ Who would like to read theirs before the class? Young man, stand and read your essay to the class.”

“Who me?”

“Yes you, young man. Stand and read your essay.”

“I haven’t got… I haven’t finished it yet.”

“Well then read us what you have young man.”

“Ok…umm… My Christmas… How I Spent My Christmas Vacation… On the first day of my Christmas vacation… I woke up. At 9:30. A. M. Then I went ice skating. At the World Famous Madonna Inn. Some guy from the newspaper took a picture. Of me. (Currently #7 of 26 in the slideshow.) Then I went home and ate some lunch. And took a nap. Then I woke up. And went rollerblading. Then I played some pinball.

“On the second day of my Christmas vacation… I woke up. At 9:30. A.M. Then I went ice skating. At the World Famous Madonna Inn. Then I went home and ate some lunch. And took a nap.  Then I woke up. And went rollerblading. Then I played some pinball.

“On the third day of my Christmas vacation… I woke up. At…”

“Thank you young man, that’s enough…”

“…9:30. A.M. . Then I went ice skating. At the World Famous Madonna Inn. Then I went home and ate some lunch…”

“Uh, thank you, young man, that’s enough…”

“… And took a nap. Then I woke up. And went rollerblading. Then I…”

“Young man… SHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUP!”

“Thank you.”

Ok, I did a few other things, but that’s mostly been it. The temporary ice rink is here for 17 days, and the wife bought me their “Golden Ticket,” good for 17 sessions. I ain’t missed a day yet. I know those of you who live where there’s actual weather probably do this ice skating thing fairly regular, but for us Californians (especially here in paradise–65 and sunny today) it’s a rare and beautiful thing. So I’ve been taking full advantage.

I did read a few books, which I’ll try to blog about tomorrow, just to try to get a bit a groove back on before school starts Monday.

Down to a three day weekend.
